Cliff Jumping and Days of the Bat
We rented kayaks on the second day and paddled our way way down the south coast through water that was crystal clear. The ocean floor was about 50 ft down and you could see the bottom most of our journey. It was amazing. This was the first place I have ever been where the water was so clear. The paddling got really tiring but was well worth it. We paddled into some caverns that had hundreds of bats flying over us. I thought I would wake the bats up to give Dave and Cassidy a good idea what it was like to live with bats. With a deep breath, I gave a native bat call which sounds something like a dying chicken in labor. Something like that. Dave was not particularly happy with my call and felt that we should leave the bats asleep. I just figured that if we were going to do the real Greek experience, we shouldn't leave anything short. We couldn't bring the camera so we don't have any pictures of it. However, this is a re-creation of those hours on the water.

The next day we got onto a boat that took about 40 people on a mini-cruise north on the island. Our first stop was at a rock that was about 7 stories high where everyone got off to climb it and then jump off, hence cliff jumping. This was really a bunch of fun. We were told to bring shoes to climb the rock and man did we need it. The rocks were extremely jagged and people were cutting themselves left and right. It was there that we realized why this type of thing could not happen in the U.S. One word: lawsuit. I could not believe the climb that was involved in getting to the top of this rock. There must have been 5 times where your feet were dangling off and if you had slipped, it would have been some serious damage. Here are a couple of pics of us the boat ride and the jumping. This place was amazing.

We then docked at a beach and they dumped
out a bunch snorkels, masks and fins. Dave, Cass and I grabbed a set and
went down near the end of the beach where there were some good rocks to snorkel
around. On the way back, they arranged some more games and were were back
in about an hour. Here's a picture of the people on the boat, anyone
recognize this guy?

The last day we rented mopeds and cruised all over the Island of Corfu. We met a guy who convinced us to get naked and put mud all over us. Go figure.
