Summary of Italy

What an absolutely wonderful time!  Thank you so much Lundin's for giving me a slice of what Italian life is really like.  I Couldn't have asked for a better transition    from the U.S. to my trip around the world and I can't thank you enough.  Mrs. Lundin must have cooked for us 14 times in the 11 days I was there and made some authentic pasta dishes that were delicious.  I learned how to eat pasta properly and I picked up a little Italian language. . . like Pizza.  They made me feel
like I was home and I cannot thank them enough. Mr. Lundin was like a personal tour guide that Cassidy and I had at our whim.  If we had any money, he would have cost us   thousands (of dollars, not lire).  I learned so much and will  never
forget my trip to Rome with the Lundins.  As for Cassidy, well. . .he's my wingman and the two of us are going to hell  together. . .but it's all about the story. Right?  As for Connery, I only saw him for a day. . but that's all I needed.  He is a
ball of fire, and what fun! (Aunt Nancy would say "how fun"   [family joke]) If we can only convince him to drop soccer
and stay with skiing, he might turn out OK.

It was amazing how I noticed the different lifestyle between the Romans and most of the U.S.  Whereas in the U.S., people are rushing to get things done, the Romans and Italians seem to approach the day with a "what should I do today" attitude. The food is second to none as is the bread.  It's almost as good as NJ bread. . .kind of.  Oh, and I'm telling you,
the watermelon is the best in the world.  The Romans have developed a way to make watermelon melt in your mouth.

Rome is absolutely beautiful.  There are few cities, if any in the world, which possess such history and beauty.  Most of the roads in Rome are cobblestone.  The streets are narrow and around every corner is an ancient spectacle.  Down the Lundin's street is the Castel Santangelo which I have in my pictures from Rome Day 1.  I truly wish that I could speak the language and truly get a feel for Rome.  I am so envious of those who can speak English as well as other languages.  Connery Lundin spent a year over there and can now speak Italian.  In fact, he just got back from visiting some family in Portugal and said that he could understand Portuguese because he explained that it's just like Italian.  How cool is that.

I am now on the plane to Sweden to hang out with Jamie McDonald for a week. I will not forget Italy!
